Every year we get a huge amount of support from local island people and their businesses. We could not put on our events without them, and we would like to give them their due recognition (we can't even mention the dozens of volunteers here)!
The Norm Mathews Family supplies us with food and water from the Thriftway store here on Vashon Island. Thanks, Norm!
Other contributors included Tom Langland of the Vashon Pharmacy, Northwest Sports, Vashon Print & Design, Eric & Mary Walker, Roy Mann of Seattle, Cafe Luna, the Hardware Store Restaurant, and the families of co-race directors Bruce Cyra and Lu-Ann Branch. Many thanks are also extended to the island drivers that took extra care to avoid the athletes on the roads, and King County Sheriff Officer Peter Thalhofer who directed traffic.
The McMurray Middle School and Vashon High School Track and Cross-Country Teams help provide safety at the intersections and mark the athletes as the round the Burton loop. Thanks to the coaches Kevin Ross and the team!
No one would know where to swim if it were not for Captain John Burke and his setting of the Swim Course Pylons! Thanks, Cap'n! He and the Bounty of Krister also provided valuable assistance as a swim safety boat.
The Vashon-Maury Island Radio Club helped keep the athletes safe by providing eyes, ears and Ham Radio communication from around the bicycle course and transition area. Thanks, everyone for their help in years past (John Galus, Ed Turner, Tim Hardy, Steve Paull, and Jim Tharp!
The good folks at the Vashon Park District help provide the venue and cooperate with our production team to make sure the athletes' needs are met. Thanks, Wendy!
